Computer based testing (CBT) will be approved by AEP every two months for all exams listed above. Once approved to write a certification exam, applicants will receive an email notification indicating the next available exam session.

There is a $97.00 USD fee per exam paid directly to the online exam provider. All exams have a two hour time limit.

There will also be two free examinations (pencil and paper) per year, November (Edmonton) and March (Banff Seminar). During the November writing, there will be one AM session and one PM session - so an operator could potentially write two exams in one day if applicable.

CEU Information

The certification program requires that operators have post-secondary education, or equivalent, to meet the requirements for Levels III and IV certification. Substitutions of applicable approved experience or CEUs can be used to gain the equivalent of post-secondary education.

All AWWOA courses including workshops and annual conference/ seminar events are CEU approved. Click here to access course listing.

It is the responsibility of certified operators to keep track of their training. Operators are responsible for maintaining proof of completion of their continuous education requirements and submitting the required documentation when applying for certification or renewal. A current list of CEU approved courses is available through the operator certification portal on the AEP website.
