Description

*NEW COURSE*

This one day workshop will explore the One Water Approach, a forward-thinking strategy that promotes integrated water management by treating all water sources—freshwater, stormwater, wastewater, source water, and drinking water—as interconnected resources within a cohesive system, from source to tap and sink to watershed.

By emphasizing sustainability, resilience, and efficiency, the One Water Approach addresses the growing challenges of water scarcity, climate change, and urbanization while ensuring water systems can adapt to and recover from these pressures.

Participants will gain valuable insights through case studies, including Los Angeles (LA) Water's comprehensive One Water planning and local initiatives by ACWA Calgary, showcasing how cities are implementing integrated water solutions based on a localized definition of the One Water Approach. Additional examples and activities will provide a broader perspective on the strategy's applicability and versatility.

The session will conclude with a discussion of key challenges and the importance of innovative thinking and collaboration to overcome obstacles and successfully implement the One Water vision.

The primary goal of this workshop is to inspire and guide participants toward making this vision a reality. As the Director of the US Water Research Foundation rightly marked, the One Water Approach represents the future of the water industry.
