Description

This two-day course is designed to increase the operator’s knowledge and understanding of granular media filters, and includes items that can be used to develop a site-specific filter maintenance/surveillance plan. The information presented will apply to both gravity and pressure filter systems treating ground and/or surface water.


The course includes hands-on technical sessions, with visits to both a local water treatment plant and a research and development facility. Each participant will receive a binder containing technical presentations (in color), template examples, backwash charts and additional filter related technical material.

The CEUs from this course can be used toward the following discipline(s) for certification renewal:

Prerequisites

Candidates should be working in a water treatment facility that incorporates filtration.

Red Deer Water Treatment Plant Location:
Exact address and location details will be provided to registrants prior to the first date of class.  Attendees must wear close toe shoes and/or steel toed boots to attend hands-on portion of class at the treatment plant.
