Description

This two day course will provide a broad knowledge of biosolids management from the sources of wastewater treatment sludges to the treatment of sludges to create biosolids. It will also present the options for beneficial reuse and/or disposal of these materials.

Note: If you have previously taken this course through Edmonton Waste Management Centre of Excellence (EWMCE) you cannot receive CEUs again.

Topics include:
-Sources and quantities of sludges in wastewater treatment
-Sludge thickening options
-Digestion options including the basic
-principles of each
-Biogas utilization for the anaerobic digestion options
-Post digestion options for biosolids treatment prior to dewatering
-Dewatering options
-The need for treatment of dewatering pressate and centrate
-Composting options for dewatered sludges and/or biosolids
-Sludge and/or Biosolids drying options
-Disposal and beneficial reuse options
