Description

SOLD OUT
Next to the cost of employment, electric power is the second greatest expense in water and wastewater operations. Energy efficiency has historically not been a priority, with the primary objectives of these operations focused on treating water and effluent to very high quality standards. Recently however, environmental issues linked to the consumption of energy in its many forms have all levels of government discussing policy in regard to its efficient use. Climate change linked to greenhouse gas emissions have policy makers establishing their plans and priorities with an escalating carbon tax beginning in Alberta in 2017.
This workshop will discuss where electricity is consumed in the water treatment and consumption cycle and outline where the greatest opportunities exist for water utilities to reduce electric energy consumption.
Strategic energy management policies, equipment upgrades, process control optimization, and electricity demand response will be covered in some detail. Several case studies will be presented, demonstrating results from several operators globally.
