Description

Advanced BNR & Troubleshooting introduces concepts of laboratory analysis of solids, settleability, and microbiology, and ties these parameters to the performance of a BNR system.

Participants will walk away from this course able to discuss troubleshooting of commonly observed process problems in relation to the health and state of the BNR system as indicated through laboratory analysis of samples.

By the end of this course you will be able to:
-Describe key operating parameters and process control strategies for BNR.
-Discuss theoretical concepts of laboratory analysis of activated sludge.
-Describe the importance of identification and abundance analysis of the general microbiota and in particular, filaments.
-Tie concepts of process control to the health/state of activated sludge systems as indicated through laboratory analysis of samples.
-Identify commonly observed problems in a BNR system.
-Discuss issues of process control and troubleshooting in general and in participant’s own wastewater treatment systems.

Note: If you have previously taken this course through Edmonton Waste Management Centre of Excellence (EWMCE) you cannot receive CEUs again.
