Description

Wastewater disinfection keeps our natural water sources safe. Improvements in technology and shifting regulatory requirements have led municipalities to stray from traditional chemical treatment methods.

As new methods are adopted it is important for Operators to understand the factors that support effective disinfection.

Outline

This one day workshop is divided into four sections:

1. Wastewater Disinfection Overview
This section defines disinfection and reviews regulatory requirements related to disinfection processes. The mechanisms at work within disinfectants are identified and the factors that influence their effectiveness are reviewed.
2. Common Disinfection Methods
This section provides an overview of the most common mechanical, chemical and physical disinfection methods for wastewater. The advantages and disadvantages of each will be identified.
3. Operation and Monitoring of UV Disinfection Systems
This section provides insight into the operational requirements of UV Disinfection systems. Additionally, effective monitoring, maintenance and care strategies are reviewed.
4. Operational Challenges
This section identifies common operational challenges and associated remedies.
